I have my 96 Civic Ex,

I need some better cornering and stiffer ride.

i have a set of APC Adjustable coilovers that a friend never used and gave to me, i have heard a few reasons why i shouldn't put these in my civic:

PROS
- Adjustable ride height
- free

CONS
- noisy
- rough ride
- could ruin shocks and/or suspension
- don't last long

i spoke to another friend that said that i should go with gas shocks and just get a new set of stock springs, he says the ride with be smoother and i will still get the cornering and wieght distribution i need.

anybody here that has any experience with these, what would be my best choice and if anyone out there has installed a set of adjustable coilovers, what is the ride like???? noisy??? rough????

i am not looking to spend a whole lot but if i could get them and have them installed for under 5 bills that would be cool.

APC is crap and i wouldnt use um on my car. but the rides with coilovers isnt that bad. To make sure that you wont f**k your shocks up just buy some after market shocks
i have skunk 2 coilovers and kyb agx gas shocks
are you looking to lower your car or not?

Most people get KYB AGX's or Illuminas. I've heard great things about both shocks, i have the AGX's and loved them since the day I put em on. And about your APC coils.........ditch em

ya if u want real full coilovers i would go w/ the teins or the apex. i got the skunk2 coils sleeves on top of tokiko illuminas and they ride pretty good. stay away from those really cheap ones tho if you are concerned about ride quality, you will prolly end up taking them off anyhow. so i guess that would save u some time too

thanks for the feedback

i have heard a lot of good things about the kyb agx gas shocks, like i said i got the apc's for nothin and i had never heard of the apc coilover, but was curious as to how they stand up to the competition. but now i can tell that they can't even compare.

thanks everyone. gonna go with a set of skunk2 and kyb agx shocks

Tein's ( besides the basic damper kit - even tho there ok ) and H&R cup series dominate. But then agian your talking $$$.

The TEIN Basics will forever be my recommendation for coilovers.

I want to try something else out, to give you guys feedback on different products. I already know that TEIN makes great products. For the same price as the TEIN Basics, I can get OMNI's Street setup.

Lin ive got skunk2 adj coilover sleeves and stock shocks. The ride isnt rough, just bouncy in the back. Obviously the lower you put the back the bouncier it gets. With new shocks the bounce goes away, but I find its just fine with the stockers. If youre looking for a different company Id go tanabe.
