Swapping Supercharger with stock Manifold, simple or complex?

Hey guys,

So I've been in contact with the guy who wants to swap my charger for a stock manifold. I have the 98 EX Sedan and he has a 2000 EX Coupe. First of all, these parts are interchangeable, right?

I quoted him $800 for the charger, which I based on the fact that it was installed in '98, so it's old and also the fact that these aren't worth too much anymore.

I want to do this exchange because I really need to just replace my tranny and, based on what everyone's been telling me, I'm not gaining much at all by having this charger on here, maybe 50hp max. If I want to have performance down the road, I'm considering a turbo kit, but for now I just need to get my car running well again.

So my main question is this, how easy is it to do this swap? I'm good at turning a wrench, but obviously there are belts, tensioners, etc involved, so is it wise to attempt this? Or should I hold off and fix my car first? The catch is that I could really use this cash towards my current repair. Is it a simple manifold switch, or are there other parts that will need to be switched out?

Any information on this would be most appreciated! Looking to do this as soon as tomorrow. Thank you!

Depends on who did the install and what they included. Almost certainly the ECU and fuel has been modified so just swapping in a stock exhaust will make your car run like a crap if either of those aren't stock as well.

Just trade him cars and call it a day :thumbs up

Superchargers are on the intake side homie :ok:

First off what supercharger is it? JRSCs are not cheap and some people spend stupid amounts of money on them for some reason.

So how much do you think it's worth, being 14 years old? Should I reconsider this deal and hold off? Would switching it out for stock be too difficult?

I would just look around and see what other people are paying for them, I know it is more than 800 bucks.

its supply and demand the supply is growing smaller. The old jrsc superchargers for the d16's are no longer made so you are the select few that have them. I honestly think you aren't doing that bad on a trade. I did a quick check most people are charging 800 for them. Saw one for 1200. By the looks of things it should not be to hard to do the swap. I am guessing you have a s100 in the ecu which you can get on hondata and get map for stock motor.
