im in the market for some new headlight, since they blew... as everyone said the Sylvania superstar are the best, is it better then the PIAA and the MTEC, i currently have the mtec that uses 100/09w and supposedly they produve 170/160w, so my question is i want thr brightest light w/o going to HID would the Sylvania superstar/PIAA/Mtec better? thanks

piaa =sucks donkey ass......

i had the super plasma gt-x bulbs when i had my stock housing.......what a dissapointment. the bulbs were so damn pink, i flamed down the streets every night, not to mention that the light output was so much more less than the stocks.

silverstars i havent used, but i've seen on SRT-4s around here. For the most part they are pretty white, but they also look like they lower visibilty as well.

MTEC- i've heard alot of good about them, and they are currently the competition w/ the silverstars. According to what i've seen, MTECs are more based on color output than light output.

So u might have to ask around to get more info on the other bulbs...........but don't ever go w/ PIAA

don't get me wrong, they look great............just that the light output blows a big one.

i've got projectors now, and i'm contemplating whether or not to stay w/ the bulbs i have now, or to get some silverstars, cuz i hear alot of good about those, but i think those reduce a bit of light output as well (blue coating).

Ive used silverstars and currently using piaa gtx super plasma bulbs. I like them more than the silverstars. Ive used alot of halogens and this is by far seems to be good. I even had my fair shares of hid lighting at one point.

Piaa's are good in my book.

edit:

With the low beam-5000k output, it looks good. High beams are at 4000k. Its bright regardless.

To me, the piaas look clean and whiter, compared to the silverstars. I still have a pair of silverstars sitting in the closet for back up. These make the silverstars look brown. The bulb is tinted blue, but it does not output any blue light. Just like the silverstars, they are also tinted blue, but offer no blue output.

Piaa GT-x = 5000k Low Beam / 4000k High Beam

Silverstars = 4000k Low Beam / I forget their high beam spec.

The place I bought it from honors an exchange warranty for 1 year.

I did find some aftermarket companies imitatiing PIAA GT-X's for $14.99. The sticker on the packaging was almost identical.

i had silverstars on my car before i went to iraq and i liked them alot. the only down fall from them i have is that the bulb life was like 10 months opposed to stock which lasted me like a year and some change until they blew. i liked the output on the silverstars alot especially when driving on country roads at night with the high beams on.

That's what I've heard from everyone that used PIAA.

I installed silverstars and forgot about them. They lasted a long time.

I've had piaa's last me 2 years, and they have a 1year full replacement warranty..... i've never had a set of silverstars last me more than 10 months and they had no warranty so i forked up the $60 for piaa's, plus the silverstars light output was s**t compared to the piaas

for TYC projectors, depending on what you want to get...BMW 3 series e46, e55 might be too big, S2000 or TSX is about right size for TYC projectors...

i charge $175 for TYC and $200 for stock housing, you can supply your own projectors or i can get em for you..

Some PIAA's do not run $100 or more. Silverstar's are what? $24.99 per one? you are spending atleast $57.00 or more plus tax. Same goes for PIAA's

and you are talking about HIDs? HIDs does not even compare to halogen headlights. So you can not really compare them with PIAA's or Silverstars or whatever

Retro in terms of cars, is when getting OEM Projectors off S2000, TSX, E46, E55 or whichever and putting them into non-projector/hid based cars.

check out my link http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=44217
that talks about HID kit's retro and others. page two should have my 2000 Civic headlights with 2005 Acura USDM TSX projectors
