Your honda should be prewired for a tack........the wire that you need to connect your tach to is located in the engine will up in the top drive corner.

also look at this write up by overboost

the wire in back of the cluster is a solid blue wire on the C connector (smaller blue connector). the exact pinout is C8. that is the Tach input for stock cluster on 6th gen civics.

your info says you have an Ex... so i'm guessing you are getting this in addition to your stock speedo... so i would make sure to tap that wire, not cut it. unless, of course, you do not want the stock tach to remain functional, then cut it.

hope that helps.

ok...so im lookin at the tach right now...i have a red wire, green wire, white, black and a double black that goes to the tach, and two black wires that goes to the shift light...what is what??...i know i have to cut the brown and orange wires...to make it work on a 4 cylinder. i read the thing from overboost...and it kinda confused me...can someone break it down a little simpler...i just dont wanna f it up.

alright u have the red n white spice them 2gether take down ur fuse cover located under ur dash look 4 a 35amp fuse usually a greenish color if u cant see the numbers n wrap the red n white around that... the single black is a ground find a screw thats connected 2 metal sand it down 2 be sure n wrap the single black around the screw ( screw it back in ) the green is really the blue wire its meant to go to ur dizzy but on hondas u got 3 ways.. behind cluster, the dizzy, or the one on the fire wall ( ull see atleast 3 diff plugs ) dunt ask me what one never tryed it... but on the cluster it should be plain blue n on ur dizzy its blue n yellow im pretty sure i didnt get around 2 check lasnight ill do it 2morrow

also from what u said bout cuttin the 2wires to make it useable for a 4cyl im guessin its auto meter ( i think u said it be4 but i forgot ) so if it is ur gunna have 2 make sure u take the light out at night r add a on/off switch like i did... jus add the switch between the red n white then run it to the 35amp fuse.. simple
