tap the brake wire

i started on my alarm yesterday, i need to get to the brake wir but dont know how, i can see the one that comes right off the brake, but thats pretty inassesable. any other place i can get to it?

Check the "sticky worthy" thread in Electronics. I think the wiring should be there.

You *might* be able to remove the fuse box to get more acess to it. If I remember correctly, its just one 10mm bolt. There also might be a fuse for the brake lights? This is for a remote start shut down right? You can always just rig up a switch...

You need to tap into the brake wire for the remote start...don't do anything else. You can get to the brake wire just take your time.

If you want, you can just tap the wire at your actual brake light that reads 12v when your brakes are pressed down. Only problem with that is you gotta run the wire from the light to the cabin. Really not that hard if you know what your doing.

Or you can just make switch. One end to a 12v constant source, and the other to the wire from the remote start that requests to be tapped into the brake wire. If you do this, instead of pressing on the brakes, all you gotta do is hit that switch. IMO, if you choose this method, try hiding the switch.

brake wire

you can the brake wire from the lower kick panel. look for the big harness that goes to th rear. cut the loom open and look for a green w/red (I think) there is about 3 or 4 greenw/red. one of them is the brake wire that goes to the brake lights.

Hmm.. I never knew of that green/red. Thanks for the info krazy, I'll make a note of this for the next time a Civic shows up!
