I just bought some new racing seats. I was wondering if you can install a 4 point harness without taking out the back seat. Most of the time ive seen the two upper straps fasten into the hooks where the back seat would be.

racing harnesses are truely only safe and necessary if u have a cage installed, i have heard that the harness with no cage/harness bar can actually hurt you in a crash

the front two points mount where your seatbelt buckle and seatbelt strap used to be (on the floor). The other two, if you don't have a harness bar, need to be mounted at a 45 degree angle. You can achieve this by replacing the tie in points of backseat seatbelt buckle and strap mounting points. So you don't have to REMOVE your back seat, but you have to lose the use of it.

actualy.. i know that when i bought my takatas it showed them mounted to the back seat as suggested.. but ALSO with the use of a bar, anchored to the floor behind the seet over the bar to the seat.. this gives you back seat use (not easily) and the correct angle... i use an autopower bar, but you can use a sparco bar... the only problem with the sparco bar is in the event of a roll over there is no main hoop.. and the roof (if it crushes)will more than likely break your neck, or hurt your back.. AND if you use the backseats AND a bar/cage you are going to want to use some real quality padding...

Dang thanks for the help boys, looks like ill try and rig up my seat belts to my new seats.

Could you guys give me some input on how to mount my seats as well? http://www.streetimports.com/product_details.asp?id=368
I know they are cheapos. The ad says they will fit 95% of cars, they most def do not.
lol they do LOOK nice.. thats the toughest part about universal mounting brackets.. they do.. in all honesty fit like s**t.. i would be carefull with placement of that inside anchor point... because you have to mount it to something that will definately NOT rip out in a crash.. generaly thats the mounting bracket.. if you could take a close up picture of the INSIDE part of the braket i might be able to give you some ideas.. but im pretty sure you might end up hacing to weld something... anywhere else wont be too safe...

i thought the rules for safely putting harnesses in your car is that they go even with your shoulder so if you get hit in the front it will not compress your back killing. you.

i think these seats are almost the same as other 'cheapo' seats. I'd like to know how to attach the seatbelts to the new seats... while safety is still important!
