I have a d16y8 96-2000 sohc vtec. I had the zex 59300 cam. As others have said it made alot of valve train noise but makes good power. I also have the matching zex springs and ti retainers. Unfortunately I have to rebuild my engine now. And I may need a new cam... I was wondering if or what cam is recommened that has good power gains and would work with the zex/comp cams valve springs/ ti retainers. ( for a NA setup).

Thanx for the help in advance

My guess is that any stage 2 camshaft should work... What's wrong w/ the Zex cam!?

If you already have the springs/retainer setup from Zex, why not use the zex cam again? Whats with the "unfortunately, I have to rebuild my engine now" Did you snap a belt?

Why are you using the 59300 for the Y8? I was waiting for a long time for the Y8 cam, part number 105300 and it has been out for some time now.

How was it when you had the Z6 cam installed? Do you also have an adjustable sprocket? Did you also advance the timing +2 degrees while using the Z6 cam?
