i wont agree with that. it reduces the flow of coolant bc its covering the coolant jackets, it has to be WELDED into the block, and it has tendency to "egg" the cylinders.

stock sleeves are plenty strong (b and d series) for most people, as long as you have a good tune and no detonation. detonation and heat is what cracks sleeves.

original poster, whats your goals, and what motor exactly is this?

the better thing to do would be to "post" the sleeves. most of the time the sleeves flex in the middle [top to bottom]. so block guards really don't help.

even posting can cause unnecessary flexing. sleeves need to flex all over at the same rate.

ive got a built gsr with stock sleeves and i will be pushing 450whp as soon as i get my kit on and tuned. trust me, i would not be doing this if i did not feel it were safe. ive done plenty of research and looked at plenty of dyno graphes, and talked to many intelligent people about the matter....jeff evans to name one.

have you considered aftermarkert sleeves rather than using the stock sleeves, woudlnt that be the most sensible thing to do good aftermarket sleeves>stock sleeves>blockguard //?
