how should the throwout bearing for a d16y8 be installed onto the fork? has been rattling since the clutch was installed a year ago. replacing the generic stage 1 setup with a exedy replacement as this is my gf's car.

does the throwout bearing just twist around the tabs on the fork or should there be a spring on the throwout bearing skirt itself like the old cable tranny's were? the fork and bearing have all kinds of wobble and play in them im assuming this is where my noise has been coming from. the spring inside of the fork holding it to the ball is there.

Are you sure the rattling isn't from the exhaust heat shields?

im sure its not the exhaust. went away with the clutch depressed. rattled when bogging down or letting off the throttle.didnt do it before i installed the clutch. went away when ur driving hard. clutch is already out, just want to make sure i get the throwout bearing installed correctly.seems like there should be more then just the 2 tabs holding it on. anyone?

Well, all I can say is that I had exactly these symptoms and the noise turned out to be a cracked heat shield near a bolt. The crack was creating the rattling noise. It's pretty easy to carefully inspect the exhaust heat shields.
