throwout bearing help

alright.first let me say i have done this many time. but i have never experienced this.

a guy comes to me to have me replace his throwout bearing. since he said it was bad. so i did.
after that it was all fine and dandy. shifting through the gears. and then i had to try the reverse. and it wouldnt go in. so i pressed the clutch to the floor and it made a pop sound. now it wont go into any gear without having trouble. and makes noises in neutral and in gear it makes a strange winding sound. sometime i cant even pull it out of gear.

things i found out when doing the job:
it seems the slave cyl, presses out further than ususal - does this mean its bad?
the TOB(throwout bearing) seemed to be function ok. it was a little rough but the bearing seemed to work fine and it looked burnt all over.

after the job:
later i called the owner, he said he was told the slave cyl might be bad, or is bad. i dont remember what he said. but he didnt tell me at the time after i replaced it all.

then i asked him how did he know the TOB was bad. he said a friend told him. the symptom was
the tranny made noise when in neutral and when you press down on the clutch it goes away.
i thought that was right, but now i keep getting mixed answers that its the input shaft, and others kept saying its the TOB.

so what exactly happen and what should i do?

Well, when it comes to the sound.... I think it would be a input shaft bearing and not a throwout bearing! The throwout bearing has to do with the release of the pressure plate and you would usually hear a thump when releasing the clutch... My friend has the same issue with his car... and the guys at the shop said you have to take apart the whole tranny to get at it! so i would say it is best of to do the input shaft bearing, and check all the gears and syncros in the tranny when you have it apart because of all the difficulties in shifting you had ... also for the slave cylinder.. if there is one around try it! Because you just gotta trouble shoot sometimes!

Throw out bearing is bad when you push the clutch to the floor and hear noises. Input shaft bearing is bad when you hear noises when the clutch is let out (not pushed to the floor). Look at it this way...when you let the clutch out (not pressed to the floor) the shaft in the trans spins. The ISB lets the input shaft spin. When you push the clutch to the floor, you are 'pushing' the clutch off of the flywheel so the engine and trans can spin indepently.

If you cant get into any gears, double check the slave cylinder. Make sure there is enough brake fluid in the system/line. Also make sure the master cylinder is working properly.

If you barely have any fluid, you'd hardly have any pressure in the pedal. Checking the slave/mc would be a good start IMO.
