tips for sound deadening

I've got 15 sq ft of some sound deadening material, I think its called Power Mat. It's just another generic dynamat brand, I just want it to be quieter inside the car because my exhaust is really loud. I started putting it down on the floor but before I use it all I just wanted to ask if anyone had any tips as far as good places to put it. Are there any areas that will be more effective than others. any help would be appreciated, I have enough to get a good amount of space but not the entire car so i just want to do the most effective job that i can. thanks

I would do the trunk first because that is were the exhaust is located. Then the rear deck. But thats just me.
