I plan on putting 17x7in rims on my 96 Civic Ex. I was just wondering if 215/45ZR17 tires would be to big for the rim or even to big to fit on my car without hitting the inside of the fender.

those tires won't fit under your wheel wells you should go with 205/45ZR17 I think that's the right size

It'd be best to go with 16"s to ensure that you wouldn't rub. 17s will rub.. even if it's only when you take a hard turn and hit a bump.. more than likely, it's going to rub.

I had to bend in my inner fender wall to make them fit but you can't tell really

get 205/40/17...as long as you dont slam it too much it wont rub.

first off, you might want to think about going 215/40/R17 because that is almost exact stock wheel and tire diameter so you will have no speedometer or tach calibration problems..Also, you will rub depending on how low your car is....There are people that have 215s, but they generally rub, or they roll their fenders so that they wont rub...I would go 205/40/R17

Thanks you guys. I think i will just go with to 205/40/R17 just to make sure that I won't rub. Thanks again.

i roll that size and just to let you know, if you have stock suspension, it might rub a little if the offset is too big. no big prob, just on dips at higher speeds (like freeway ripples). if you have after-market suspension, it shouldn't be a prob. keep in mind...

I've had 205/40's on 4 different cars/wheels and I've never had a problem. Then again your talking different scenarios, drop, how much camber, weight in back seat, but with 205/40 you should be good!

Same problem

Yeah I have the same problem. Trying to decide on the 205's or the 215's. I have a set of Velox VX-8 rims and the dealer told me if I want some "meat" on the rim to protect the lip, I should go with the 215's.
