To turbo or not to turbo?

I have the opportunity to buy a 95 civic vx hatchback with a turbo. I was just wondering if it is difficult maintaining a turbo civic? Anything else I would need for this setup? I just have never owned a turbo car but I have owned civics. Any input would be great. I will attach the link below with the craigslist posting. I have talked to the owner and he is a tech at a high end import shop and and I checked it all out.

if i were you NEVER buy a turbo car. you should always do it yourself. because #1 thing is that most car that are turbo for sale, can be fuxk up. or going to be.

definatly do you own install, had my fingers burnt with a used turbo'd civic before in the past!

My number one rule is: Don't buy someone else's project 85-90% of the time they are messed up.

how I came to this conclusion:

Stock LS with head studs... everything else is OEM.
Never states who it was tuned by, if at all. Anyone on here who has boosted a civic knows, the key to reliability and power is in the tune.

If you were to buy it, tell him to take off the sentimental value from the price. 5300 is way too much.

Which "high end import shop"? The only one around that area that I would ever bring a turbo car to, or buy one from is 70 miles away.

If you know what to look for and are mechnically inclined in any such way, you can tell the difference between half assed and well done

i agree every well put together boosted civic or any import really is very quick to state who tuned in and what shops did work on it.
Dosent matter if every single part on it is top of the line if the tunes crap then its crap

If I were you, I would invest in my own build. Maintaining a car is easier if you know what has been done. Even if the tune was great, you still don't know how the driver drove that car. Just save, save, save and do it yourself. Then you can call it "yours".

I have worked on several builds in the past and they all took several years. I am currently working on my new build and I have been collecting parts (the right parts for my build) for almost two years. Still worth it.
