How much Vtec is too much? I mean is it bad to hit Vtec all the time? Cuz i like the way my short ram sounds right before it engages but i also love the sound and power and feel of the Vtec. I feel retarded asking this, but im new to the civic world. Ive only had mine for 2 weeks. thanks for all the input :woot:

the power and feel of vtec isnt much, especially in an sohc... i can hardly notice any "pull" in my dohc. vtec is overrated by many civic owners.

Man you guys should be ashamed..VTEC is a wonderful thing. After owning a car that was a SOHV noon-VTEC (D16Y7) and now having my Si. I wouldnt want to be without it. I love it. But I dont abuse it.

im not ashamed of anything, i agree vtec is a wonderful thing. but i look at it more as a feature that makes my car distinct than others, not as a performance option. people that talk about vtec talk about there car "pulling very hard". i can do very well without it. but im glad its there.

I was excited to get away from sohc and step up, I like the motor i run but hitting vtec all the time..... hmmmmmm you are going to be pissed after the first time you break something or get carried away and over rev you shiot. Drive it like a normal driver use it when you get that wild hair in your ass. Just don't get carried away and hit 5000+ rpms at every stop light to stop light just to feel your vtec kick in. IMO

I agree but you can't over rev with a stock ECU. That's why Honda employed rev liniters. But if you want to rev the piss out of your motor, I have a JUN chipped ECU for sale....... 8)

in my SOHC you can hear (with the music turned off) a sucking noise right b4 the vtec kicks in then after it gets quiet except for this extrememly high pitched sound. I love it!

In my H22 hatchie, you FEEL the Vtec. The car actually jerks to the right and your body pushes back a lil. No lie. Vtec is lovely!! It's these ricers with the "powered by vtec" stickers and the ones that ASK "is that vtec!?!" and s**t that makes you hate it. lol
