not sure about online tools, i know sears has some great deals on complete craftsman tool sets... they'd atleast last you awhile.

also, snapon will do credit sometimes. check and see if they have something setup that you could make payments.

i have snap on tools..they do run a credit financing program, whwnever the toolman comes by u pay him xx amount a week. the student discount program is a really good one, but you only have 10 points to use, so use em wisly. i do reccomend craftsman, i started off with those and they worked me well through 5 years.

First of all snap on tools sets are no where near $1000 try 3-4 times that. Unless your in tech school, lemme re-frase that, in a good tech school where they should have a program that gives you big discounts on snappy tools or the give a voucher or something. If this is the cause by every snap on tool you can no matter the cost, take advantage of the discounts and stuff. If it turns out you dont need some of em, then sell em for full price or try to swindle the snappy dealer and trade them in to get more stuff, like I did. Other than that matco is very good and cornwell is pretty good to.

I used to be a Snap-On snob but have been using a set of Kobalt 1/4 drive sockets and I'm very pleased with the quality. I'll destroy a 9/32 or 7mm Craftsman in about a month. These Kobalts are holding up fine even on the 18 volt DeFault drill.

Why a 7mm or 9/32nds? Take apart a GM or Ford dashboard sometime and you'll understand.

But I really only work with automotive electrical. Klein is another brand name I can recommend. In fact I'll actually go ahead and recommend Klein above Snap-On for crimpers, strippers...etc.... Waekon makes a good logic probe for working in the dark.

Oh, If any hand tool doesn't say MADE IN USA on it, put it down. It's probably fine for home handyman crap but Taiwan-tools will break and will generally hurt you when they do.

So what about the two hours you lose when you break a tool, have to stop work, go to Sears, wait in line to swap it, drive back and finish the job.

Flag rate owns you.
