well as i was gettin ready to go to school this mornin, i started my car like always to get er nice and warm, but when i let off the clutch my tranny started making a spinning noise...but then when i pushed in on the clutch, it slowed down then stopped....hrmmm...so then im thinking to myself the whole way to school what could it be...and i have it narrowed down to 2 things...either the imput shaft barring...or the throw-out barring....i know there are some guys in here that know a hell of alot about clutches...so someone help me out!!!!! :2confused

Mine is doing the same thing......The sound you're describing, is it sort of like something spinning? And goes away when you push the clutch in? I have no idea what it is and i'm wondering the same thing. My car also makes a weird tranny noise when i'm accelerating, its normal, then right around 3k it makes a noise sort of like the one described above, but a bit louder. The weird thing is, my clutch grabs perfect, no slipping or anything. I'm stumped.....

I think I've got the same problem...I get a funny friction noise between 3K-4K rpms in each gear, easier to hear 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I'll have to check to see if when I push in the clutch w/o shifting gears, if it goes away. But anyone having a similar problem!?

i also have the same exact excellerating nose that you have...sometimes it is hella loud, and other times it is not...i was told when i had my front end alighned that it was just "trans axle" noise...and the spinning noise is whenever the clutch is out...like when my car is parked, and running...its really wierd. When i go on my winter break from school im going to drop the tranny and see whats up

the throw-out bearing is like 10 bucks...but if your going to take the time to pull all that crap apart...you might as well check on your clutch..cause if you buy a clutch set...($200) you get a throw-out bearing also...just my $.02

it is either your throw out bearing or the pilot bearing. the throw out will make noise like a spinning skateboard wheel when released. it is an indication of the bearing going bad or out. it is from lack of oil circulation. they are cheap but if you dont know how to do them yourself it will cost around 200-300 to have a mechanc do it for you. mine is going out but i also dont have a second gear syncro so im not worried about it i have an extra tranny for this reson. its not a big deal but if it siezes on you it will mess your tranny and clutch assembly up. if it starts making a loud whineing noise when accelerating it is way bad and almost gone. good luck hope this info helps.

Hey I just put in a new clutch and fly wheel. I am having the same noise, I used an exedy clutch and act flywheel. I have a friend here that has a 240sx and he just put a clutch in and said he has the same prob. Well I will look into the throw out bearing, maybe that is what it is. Thanks guys. Keep me posted.
