transmission sound????

hi im new to the club i have a 1992 honda civic ex and i have a sound coming from the transmission sounds like directly under the gear shift its like a rattling sound that gets louder with acceleration and disappears after seems like the middle of 3rd gear but until then its quite loud any help is greatly appreciated thanks

might be a heat shield on the exhaust might want to check if its loose.

I have the exact same problem. Is it an automatic?
Mine rattles in some gears as you excellerate or keep it at a certain rpm. By then disappear when it shifts

i would agree..check to make sure your heat shield is not loose on one side.. also make sure the pipe is not off its holders....Its most likley not the transmission unless you have issues shifting.
