Just recently my reverse gear went out in my auto tranny. I bought a new tranny. Has anyone done a swap and if so was it hard? Should be a clean swap right?

im in the middle of swappign a manual trans. its certainly not the easiest thing in the world. if you arent mechanically inclined with a good set of tools, id leave it to the pros.

I pulled the gearbox on my 94 ex, and had a shop rebuild it reinstalled it myself. wasnt too hard, I used the haynes manual, seemed pretty straight forward, but I've built a few mustang racecars, and have some other mech skills. If you do it yourself make sure you check your axles, boots, and clutch while everythings out! You dont need any real special tools just a full set of sockets and wrenches, a couple of jacks, and jackstands, maybe a breaker bar and a prybar, a hammer and a punch, hmm... off the top of my head, thats all I can think of.

i helped a family mechanic/friend to swap my auto tranny cuz it was slipping. just make sure you remember to install back all the plugs and that everything aligns perfectly. i jacked up the car and it took me 2 days in my garage at 20F outside. took longer than usual, but it worked fine. just make sure someone is there to help you.
