Hi. I have a 1994 Civic Dx Stock I was wondering if I could put the transmission from a ex or si in it. If it could be done. Would I have more start power? Also Would this just bolt up would I have to change anything else like wiring or anything? My gears are so long I cant get any start power. Any info would be great. I am just trying to get some more start power I am also going to do a mini me swap in the spring but I want to do the tranny now if it will help.

PS by start power I mean take off power like of the line power.

Yes another d series trans will bolt up and work way better then your dx trans. just make sure that it is a 92-95 trans, i think a 96-98 might work too but im not for sure. i would just get a 92-95 ex or si trans like u said though. u will really be able to tell the difference. i cant remember if you will need another pcm but i think u do. im not 100%.

What is a PCM?

Which one is better EX or SI?

And also will changing My throttle Body To A D16z6 Throttle body help any?

Thanks for all the answers.

It's not worth it. Save up for a motor swap. When dealing with transmission, make sure that the Dseries motor gets a Dseries tranny, Bseries gets Bseries, etc.

But wich is better?

I really dont want to do a swap because I only want to be able to race a few friends and I dont have the equipment or money to waste on swapping just for playing around. I am just trying to make it faster not really really fast.

ex and si trans should be the same

putting a bigger throttle body on wont help unless you port match the intake manifold...

the ratios on the gears are different i believe

from the service manual

92-95 Honda Civic 5 speed s20 manual tranny
--------d15b8--d15b7--d16z6
--------d15z1--
-----1-3.250---3.250---3.250
-----2-1.761---1.761---1.900
-----3-1.066---1.172---1.250
-----4-0.852---0.909---0.909
-----5-0.702---0.702---0.702
-----R-3.153---3.153---3.153
Final--3.250--3.888---4.250
------------------4.058

the manual does not specify any difference between the 2 different cars' transmissions...it seems to be powerplant specific and the ex and si contain the same engine d16z6

I swapped in a 94 EX tranny in my LX and it is alot faster than stock. I would recommend this.

it will help, but i think in the long run if you want to swap tranny and head, why not just swap the entire z6? might even be cheaper to get it as a whole, and you will know that you have all the parts and not missing any sensors compared to getting it all separately

its more work to pull and replace the tranny than it is to just pull the whole powertrain and swap it. and you get an extra 25 hp and a better platform to mod to boot. do the full z6 or y8. and any 92-00 (except for 99-00si) tranny/ motor will bolt right in.
