So best buy finally got around to installing my viper remote start system after their only "remote start" installer had some family problems... *shrug

I got the basic stuff down but still need to do some more reading on the valet and different arming levels... but I found that they didn't install a trunk release... they charged an additional $80 to the $400 i already paid for "parts and extra labor." So I was wondering if I could install it by myself, or if i go to a shop or best buy again do you think it'd be worth the money?

- Thanks in advance

I only recommend it if you have a factory electronic release. You can add an actuator to the system to do the job, but they typically break and are not as reliable as actuators for doorlocks. Yes, I am an installer that does a number of alarms and remote start alarms daily.
