Ok, here's my current plan for a turbo-d project, prices and labor included.

Turbo-D project:

Turbo:
SS-Autochrome Turbo Kit - $900
Custom-Fab Equal Length Mannifold - $300
Greddy Oil Temp Gauge - $110
Greddy EGT Gauge (with TRE Probe) - $130
Greddy Boost Gauge - $110
Greddy Air-Fuel Gauge - $120
Apex'I Turbo Timer - $85
Dual A-Pillar Gauge Pod - $35
Dual Gauge Cluster Bezel- $35

Labor - ~$200

D16Y8 Build:
Engine - FREE
Swap-In - $600
Delta Cam Regrind - $80
Eagle Rods - $350
KMS Pistons - $500
Crower Valve Springs/Retainers - $350
Golden Eagle Sleeve - $110
ARP Headstuds - $120
P28 Socketed ECU - $150
Uberdata - FREE
Chip Burn - $50
Dyno Tuning - $200

Labor - ~$500

Other:
Invidia Exhaust - $500
EX Cat - FREE

Total: $5535

Any comments, concerns, things I've forgotten, or substitutions I should make, lemmie hear it =) I don't wanna hear any s**t about "turbo-d's are a waste of money" .... because at $5500, I'm gonna cook the s**t out of any b-series in my town, or anyone who spends the same ammount on a swap and upgrades.

Because I live in an appartment and have no access to a garage where I could do this sort of thing. If I get on better terms with my uncle, then maybe labor will go out the window.

what abou oil pressure gauge??
why buy ssautochrome?? a lot of people have heard only bad things about him
also why buy a kit with a fmu when you are going to then pay to have a car chipped?
and im guessing $200 labor is for everything being installed? if so... i think it will cost more

$600 to swap in another d? that is a ripoff especially if you can get gauges, turbo, turbo timer, etc installed for only $200
you going to get any headwork while you have the head apart?
What about adding the cost for the sleeves being installed.
machine work to the engine needs to be done too
bearings
get a performance oil pump and dont forget about a good headgasket along with other misc gaskets
performance axles

im sure theres a couple more things in there too

This is all tenative, really. There's little stuff I've left out purely for the sake of .... well, not putting every piddling crap little thing in. I'm not getting the gauges installed, I can do that myself. I have hookups places too. The engine swap, well, I'm paying for it because it's just something I am not comfortable doing myself. And as for headwork .... um, cam, valve springs, retainers .... do those not count as headwork? The cost of the swap is just what my mechanic charges to swap in an engine, simple as that. It may be less since it's a D, but I haven't asked. This isn't all going in at once, either. It's not like I'm just going drop a built, turboed d into my car. I'm going to drop the D and then turbo with low boost, and the slowly build :what:

The prices are really what I'm going to pay, and there's not much I can do about it. My mechanic is one of the best honda mechanics in the state, and I trust his work more than anyone I know.

piddling crap little thing.... getting the sleeves installed properly isnt piddly crap... its major work.
you have thought about getting a egt sensor, but not an oil pressure gauge?
i want to know that my engine is getting oil more than how hot the exhaust gases are.

that is some headwork... what about checking the valves, putting in new valve seats, making sure the cams havent eaten away from the runners? checking clearances?

whether it all goes in at once, or you do it over time, it will cost the same amount of money and planning.

it'll probably be that much, the last quote I got from Doug was $600 for swapping an LS in, so I imagine a D is gonna be way cheaper. And if not, his work is worth the money, it really is.

All these things will be done, because I trust my mechanic. These are things I have no idea about, because I don't do engine work. Don't treat people like they're stupid because they don't work on motors. My guy doesn't just throw s**t onto things. He does things the right way the first time.

and you can beat a b with just turboing the car, you dont have to build the whole engine.
