hey guys im back again with another question. Im currently building my d16z6 and im planning on running 15 psi daily. Im going with tt rods no doubt. But what type of pistons should i use im looking for some that are about 9:0:1 i know they have to be forged but where could i get a good set from and how much would they cost. I was going with vitaras but i dont think i can deal with the piston slapping. so someone please reference me in the right direction i want to make about 300 whp. think its possible?? OR would it be better to do that to my D15B??

check out www.tunertoys.com and look into some SRP forged pistons.

oh, and psi doesnt matter. pick a power goal and work towards that

i would say vitara pistons cause i think they lower it to 9 :0:1 and ive heard many good things about em

Vitaras are a lot lower than 9:1

I would go with something like SRP or CP.

Tuner toys rods usually have to be modified for the wrist pin to slide through them as well.

compression calc comes out to about 8.8:1, but with a thinner HG, you could probably get damn close to 9:1

i decided to go SRP with my build. even though ive seen 400+ on Vitaras, im still weary of a cast piston at that boost level

Did you ever get the tt rods to fit in the pistons? Did you have to shave them?

im using TT i-beams, they fit just fine in Vitaras. i believe the h-beams were the ones that had the issues...

I thought I saw on d-series that you couldn't get them to fit and you were gonna send them back?

vitaras. they only slap when cold, not a big deal. srps are cheap too

i beams are lighter and come with the better ARP bolts(ARP 2000) which allows for safer high revs

the h-beams will handle more power though

with i beams you dont have to notch the block, do you?

ive heard both ways. i placed them on the crank without pistons, and as i rotated the crank it didnt seem like i would need to notch. the rod never came near center of the bore while touching the sleeve, therefore i figured that if it were centered in a piston, it would be pulled away from the block.

BUT, i notched mine anyways to be on the safe side. i didnt want to have a nice clean bore done, then come to find out i need to grind away on it and ruin the smoothness of it.

Are these rods on the website cause I can't find them.
Tuner Toys no longer carries them :(

they are on ebay under a few different names though. from what i can tell the "Probe" rods are the same, as well as a few others, and roughly for the same price
