Depends on what route you want to go.

You will need an obd2-obd1 conversion harness for sure with the p28. You have tuning options such as Crome, eCtune, Neptune, Hondata, etc. Some are free (Crome) but have less options unless you upgrade (Crome Pro), some cost a few hundred (Hondata), etc. Some have more features than others (more tuning options).

It really depends on what you want, how much you're willing to spend, etc. I think many can agree though, tuning is THE MOST important part of any setup. One mistake with tuning and you might as well have another motor on hand.

Myself, I am tuned on basic Neptune. I bought a chipped P06 from some guy on eBay who even puts his own basemaps on there for you. I had him put a basic basemap on there so the car would at least be drivable to the tuner's location, where they would tune the car professionally on the dyno (and street tuned) from there.

Oh, and this is my 2000th post. ;) lol

yeah i got the p28 and im also doing a minime swap before boost so im gonna end up changing the whole engine wire harness for a d16y8 so wouldnt it become a OBD2 plug? or would i still need a jumper harness,

plus i dont care how much i spend i just need a chip that you can plug a usb cord or ect. into it so they guy down the street can do it for me lol,

thanks and congrats on the 2000

Ask him what he tunes on. Maybe stop by your local tuning shop and ask questions and get a chip from them.

If you want an ECU that can be simply plugged into via USB and that you will have the most luck finding a shop that can tune it, I'd recommend the Hondata S300. It's a little more pricey than some of the basic chipped ECU software (crome, etc), but is much easier to work with and has the most support. BTW, as already mentioned, if this d16y8 is in an EK, you will need a jumper harness.

What will happen is there is a conversion harness that will go imbetween your ecu and the wiring harness ecu plugs. There's a ton of threads on this and the harness is very easy to obtain. Google obd2 to obd1 converstion harness.

you still need the obd2 to obd1 conversion harness. The p28 is a obd1 ecu which came in the 92-95 civic and your car is an obd2 car which 96-00
