i am lookin into a turbo, doin some looking up, well i can't seem to find, any info on laws, on aftermarket turbos, i been hearing, if you get the right one and tune just right it will pass, with no problem, and something about visual inspections, if they look at it it won't pass, not sure whats different from CA and other states, i am from UT, if anyone lives here and knows, or knows anyone, that does, be great help to find out, i plan on calling the DMV soon, but rather talk to someone that has had emissions done, with a aftermarket turbo.

Thanks

Most aftermarket turbos are NOT legal unless otherwise noted with a CARB EO sticker or soemthing. Its hard enough to get a stock turbo'd car to be made emissions legal.

90% of people who fail thier emissions test, fail within the first 15 seconds. That is because the catalytic converter is not up to operating temperature. A catalyst has to be in upwards of 600F to properly convert the gases. Initial startup is what you have to worry about.

That is because the highest amount of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) are created upon startup.
