Right now im running a stock GSR motor. I plan on overhaulin it over the winter. One of the things I want to do is turbo it. I plan on using a T3/T4 turbo. Is this a good chose for turbo? Or is there a better turbo that I should get? I want to drop the comppression by changing the pistons in the motor. And I know I should change some of the other internals in the motor but Im not sure what else to change so that i can push a good amount of boost. My plan is to be able to push like at least 10 pounds of boost more if possible. I know Is hould change the valve springs and valves but what else should I change. Is there anyway someone can get me a list of what I should do to be able to do this? It would be greatly appreciated if so. THANK YOU.

heres a heads up, you can run 10 pounds on a bone stock gsr...

you shouldnt concern yourself with pounds of boost, you should be looking into how much wheel horsepower you want to create, a bone stock GSR is capable of numbers in the 300 range, stock block...

if your going to build, go big and do it allllll right the first time, otherwise your going to waste time and money...

what trim t3/t4 are you looking at?

T3super60 =)

It's more than capable of what you're looking for.
Yes, and bone stock gsr internals can handle a good amount of boost.

I want to this right the first time and if I have to spend the extra money to do it right the first time then thats fine with me. I had no idea that the stock GSR could hold 10 pounds with its stock internals. thats good to know.

Im not really sure on what trim for the T3/T4 but I ma open to all suggestions and ideas. You guys are more experienced in this than I am. Someone told me that a T66 is a good turbo to use too. Im not to sure about that statement though. I appreciate the help so far.

Im new to this whole motor swap and turbo thing but want to get into it so like I said any suggestions and comments are appreciated. THANK YOU again.

well if your going to build your bottom end, why not start there...

you said you wanted some new pistons, so why not sleeve the motor to a bigger bore like 84mm, grab some low compression pistons, forged rods, all new bearings, get ur crank polished etc...

Know dout you want to build from the inside out. Its going to cost you, but it would cost you more if you blew it and had to redo it the right way..... This is just my feeling, but if your going to bost must sleev your block..... Thats going to save you thousands for just a mear 800. to 1000. to have your block sleeved....Just think after that it balls out on what you can do.....

Also use the search button uptop to learn all you can about what you want to do. The search is your best friend bro..

Good luck.....

T66 is too big and would suffer from too much lag...

t3/t04e 57 trim .60/.63 ar will be fine for a stock gsr
sc61 for a built one would be nice

you could run 13 lbs all day with enough fuel and hondata tune, but it just puts more wear and tear on the motor
honesly a built motor is nice to have but it depends on your goals
300whp on a street car is a lot.. i had traction issues all over with near 300whp in a 99 gsr

I'm considering this same setup too, stock GSR motor and a small amount of boost, but I live in CA so I think my turbo choices are limited to this:
Greddy Turbo Kit

I think Greddy markets these as doing 7 PSI. Is that even worth it for $2600? I'm not looking to be the fastest on the street and I'd be happy with 200-250 whp. I'm more looking for a car that handles very well and has quite a bit of acceleration. So what kind of turbo lag do you think I should expect w/ this setup? Thanks guys, always great info here =)

i appreciate all this help guys. thank you so much. i made up my mind i am goin to be sleeving the block. i know traction is goin to be a problem if i go much more than 300 whp. i might do a little more though and make it straight for the track. so what's the biggest turbo i should do trim wise and everything?
