Why would you want to turbo a HX that car in meant for economy not to race. But if you wanted go with a rev-hard or Drag Kit. =)

well it does make more power than a d16y7 and does use less fuel do to the vtec-e and its ablity to runner leaner than normal honda engines. turbo the mother i just dont know if you will need to swap a regular vtec ecu in there to keep it from trying to run lean while turboed. if all else fails just swap a y7 or y8 in there if you kill it

I don't know man. I would rather just swap to a b16 for the price your going to pay for the turbo. B16 really cost around $800 if you know where to get them. If you get them from Internet you will over pay tremendously. Then with the left over $$ you can do some upgrades on the B16 block. Just my opinion.

before you buy a turbo kit check out www.homemadeturbo.com
can make one yourself for $1000 or less
and if a person could get a dependable b16 for $800 they would buy them and sell them to others that couldnt get them for that price. but u usually get what you pay for $800 maybe for a early 90's b16 but hey what do i know:D

hx is not worth turboing. id rather boost a dx than that. its made for economy and good gas milage and s**t. its not made for power. id drop a y8 in there...OR you could put a y8 head-intake manifold-and ecu, maybe the trans if they are different, and have a d16y8....kinda. my friend made a turbo kit for 800 bucks. its better than the drag and greddy kits. the drag manifold suck d**k, the wastegate is not properly positioned and they are known to crack easily. the greddy kits are gay cuz they use mitsu turbos which dont have a "other turbo" friendly bolt pattern....(t3 friendly is what im saying) SO if you want to upgrade your greddy kit with a t3 turbo, you need a new dp and manifold...

unless someone is going to pay you $500plus for you engine(not transmission) ecu and wiring harness turbo the beast i think most people are scared of turboing a hx because they dont understand how the engine works. just to give you all some learning ill post a link on vtec-E from are asian brothers

I have a 96 HX with 130K with cheap: light speed header&cat..strummen exhaust..& tachikara intake..thought about trying the Turbo..but wanted to Know first what I would need to swap a 96EX D16Y8 to play around with? ECU, Motor, Tanny, maybe wire harness? Anybody think of anything I left out. Figure easier to get pass Smog if I just rebuilt this Engine ..light port and polish and turbo it later and have fun with it now, rather than get the normal B16 of B18 swap. Any feedback be appreciated.

you dont need tranny u can use ur old one, wiring harness u can use ur orginal and make connections for vtec stuff your self or get the harness and ecu with the engine, make sure the harness and ecu are both 96-98 because 99-00 is different

How so sound? Because of my question or the response. Either way homeboy is offering knowledge to help get me going in a project I know nothing about. If you think it's stupid to waste money on swapping a d16y5 I agree, however being a daily commuter that has to pass smog and be efficent I want to make a small but solid platform to play around with but keep me from stressing off smog issues. At the same time happens to be the way I want to go for the future. My opinion..your mind still boggled partner?
