Hey, I've been sitting on my greddy turbo kit, and I/C kit since march of this year. I wanted to install it this summer but none of my so called "friends" would help me. So I looked into get a shop to do it but they want to charge me for 17 hrs of labor for a greddy turbo kit, I/C kit, BOV, and fuel rail install. Its only $67/hr but it comes out close to $1200 which just seems outragous to me.

I know its just bolt up for the most part but I have very basic tools(sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc). I have zero air tools, which could make getting some of this apart difficult. I could image if I did it, it would take 17 hrs, but for a shop that turns out a boosted car like every week... I have a hard time believeing that. I know for a fact a local shop can do it in 4hrs, but my little court battle with them doesnt allow me to go there any more. That and they do s**t work, but I watched the owner do part of his turbo install a few years ago, and he does a good job its just all the dip shits that work there dont give a damn.

a premanufactured kit should take no time at all to put on and you should not need any air tools. With my homemade setup instalation took less than a day. We started installing everything in the afternoon and we were done by midnight. Only take it to the shop to get it professionally tuned.

good luck man!

I guess I'll try to round up the troops one more time. We were supposed to do it at my buddys work this summer, he is a mech at a dealership and he did his turbo civic last winter. So hopefully I can get him to help me someday while I'm on winter break. My other problem is after I install, how do I get the car 150 miles away to the tuner? Without a truck and trailer that is..... going to run AEM EMS with wideband 1050U to be exact.

You can do it easily, its very simple actually. And since you have a MFG kit, it will be even easier. The only things that took a while for me were to get those damn block plugs out in my ls for a catch can, and making the IC piping. Everything else is straight forward. I did my swap, turbo kit, stripped the entire chassis, suspension work, without picking up a air tool. I dont even own a compressor.

Also, yes you can get a basemap and baby it there. My tuner was over 150miles away also (actually i believe it was like 168miles to be exact)...something like that. All I did was put the stock injectors back in, leave the stock ECU in and just baby it all the way there. Once your on the highway stay a constant speed and its real easy. I just shifted at like 2500-3k, but picked up RPM reallly slow. Just dont get on it or that MAP will throw a CEL if it sees boost.

can you install a header? can you install an intake?...... now just connect them with pipes..... almost done. Really the only thing that will be any pain should just be the oil return, and thats just cuz you gotta drain your oil, take off the pan, and drill a hole and putt the fitting in. If you just set aside a weekend to do it, you should be fine. i would say save a weekend for it, start on sat early, and try to finish sat, then if something comes up, you still have sun free and should be able to finish it then,
