Ok.. I have a T3 turbo, some IC piping, a volvo FMU and a volvo IC (all came off a turbo IC volvo 245).. Everything is in good condition.. I was contemplating on getting a custom T3 manifold and turboing my beast all custom... should i do it on my 194,900 mi. d16z6? It has a recent timing change.. all belts, seals, etc were replaced.. new transmission under warranty (s20, si tranny).. should i do it? i have a limited budget, so yea.. just "turbonig the sohc, blow it, and buy a b series" simply wont work.. so give me advice! thanks...

i dont think u should do it, jus because of the high mileage and all. turbos put alot of stress on a motor, and a motor with 194k wouldnt b able to handle it. im not 2 sure on what u should do, u said u hav a limited budget, so if i were u i would jus save up and try to buy another cheap sohc motor then turbo that, u already hav the new tranny and all, u could get a motor for a few hundred bucks. mayb try to find another z6 or mayb a d15b.

Well from what I have read about people saying should they turbo the high mileage motor the most important advice is to do a compression test and make sure it's good across all cylinders, if it is I would turbo it, but s**t can go wrong either way.

get the engine rebuilt (~$500 depending on where you go), then turbo it.

With that many miles hes better off with a new engine. With all the wear and abuse that engine has been through hes wasting the money.

But if he does keeep the engine then he should resleeve it. Have the bores honed also. God knows how many micro fissures are int eh cylinder walls.

On top of that I would be suprised if the deck isnt warped.

true, a lower mileage engine (maybe even one from a totaled rear-ender) would be better.

I would freshen up the engine or build it up before you ad a forced induction.

go ahead, but your bottem end is gonna hate you....rod bearing....piston rings....might as well buy a used bottem end for under $100 and go from there
