Turbo problems....please help

Alright, i just finished my turbo install and tried to fire the engine up. I turned the key and i hear a loud squeal from my engine bay. Also, the engine feels like it's trying to fire up, but it just can't. I thought there might be an oil leak somewhere, so i checked underneath the car, but no leaks. Is this noise made because lack of oil? Do i just unscrew the oil feed like from the turbo and put it in a bucket to see if oil is actually making its way to the turbo? It's a pretty ugly sound and i figured i'm not doing something right, so i thought i'd come on here and ask you guys what your thoughts were on the subject.

Just thought i'd paraphrase it a little for people:
alright so my big problems are, why it's not firing up, Should i just keep trying until it finally does? or am i doing more damage by doing this?

Also, what might be making the squealing noise. Thanks

before you installed the turbo did you check the blades and shaft for play and if it could spin freely.

was this a well running motor before you installed the turbo?

start from the beginning and just go one step at a time. and just re check each thing

alright well i've been going back through my work all last night and today. Been talking to a few people and they think it might be my alternator causing the squeal and preventing my car from starting. your thoughts that it could be this causing the problems? They seem to think that my turbo shouldn't prevent the engine from firing. This was a very reliable engine before i messed with it, started up every time with no problems.

why would the alternator be fried now if it was fine before? no the turbo wouldn't prevent the car from starting i was just asking if it spun freely. if it had alot of play or couldn't even spin that would cause the squeeling noise.

worthless post.

where is the squeeling coming from? was there only squeeling while you were turning the engine or is it squeeling when you put the key in the on position. have someone turn the engine while you listen for the squeeling. it could be some oil on the belt for the alternator. it could be the fins on the turbo scraping the housing.

when i had my turbo for the first time in my car.. i drove it for 2 days and the alternator, speed sensor, and an o2 sensor went up in it.

alright, i had someone else start the car for me while i listened for the noise. First off, the the squeeling deffinitly doesn't sound like it's coming from the turbo. And now after standing by the engine instead of being in the car when it's trying to start, it sounds more like a belt squeel then anything. Just to give some more info. on the subject, i checked out the crank pulley to make sure that spun, and it does. Everything seems normal when i put the key into the ON position, like the fuel pump comes on and shuts off, the CEL light comes on and shuts off, everything is normal. It sounds like it's real close to firing up, like a real repetitive sound. It sort of sounds the same as when you try to turn your car on without any gas in the tank? (IDK, i've never tried it but the engine is trying to turn over but it's just not firing up?) Just trying to get as descripitive as i can.

Rubixcu7- i completely forgot out to prime the turbo (ik, i'm a dumbass), but i talked to a few people and they said that they thought that enough oil would be running through the turbo when the car was started to not hurt anything. Maybe i'll try that, but how exactly do you do it? Thanks again everyone for your replys.

ick.. priming the turbo is key man.. you may have damaged it.

time to replace your belts then if the belts are squeeking.

did you get colder (1-2 steps lower) spark plugs?

to prime the turbo, remove all you plug wires from the plugs and turn the key over like 5-10 times. this way it doesnt fire the engine, its sending oil though. try that and see what happens

i forgot to prime my turbo(used) when i fired it up. :X

i hate forgetting things like that. she made it fine tho. PHEW!

quickly back to the alternator: i don't really see why a turbo install would kill the alternator. maybe im having a brain fart but i don't see how your straining it anymore. please discuss . (may help this guy out )

actually, the word "induct" is the intaking of air into the engine.. forced induction is more of forced air.. nitrousis more of forced fire or power.. but yea, that post was pretty pointless (thats why i go all motor b18, blah blah blah..)
