without a tune...yes, you can do some damage at any boost level.

What kind of engine managedment? You could actually use a fmu for 4psi... I would seriously rethink turboing my car if you can't get a good tune though.

Well I say don't worry about it. Save your money and buy another motor, play around with this motor and see whats what and then you can tune the other motor when this one blows.

im gonna tune it myself at four psi so i can learn and be able to tune it once i build my other motor.. so what us saying is get an fmu and then try and tune it myself so it wont blow before i tune it

Forget using an fmu, for the price of it, you could get a obd0 chippable ecu pr4 or pm6, and some injectors. The only thing you need to remember is that you will need to spend $200 on a wideband to tune it yourself, or $150 or so for someone to give you a street tune. If you plan on doing this setup and another, I say get a wideband do it yourself, learn and save in the long run.

If you wanna tune it your self, yes get a wideband and lot's of time and patience is needed. I hope you did your fare share of research, good luck!
