turbo question

Ok, i know most of you will advise against most or all turbos found on ebay...but sometimes you can tell when a sellers kit is a little more legit, and i just wanted to see what you all though about this one, see if everything sounds straight or not....

if i were you i would just start piecing together a kit, you will come out ahead that way. and there are certain parts that its ok to buy knockoff brands, just think about it this way, "how hard would it be for a company to screw xxxxx product up" you should always run a name brand turbo, but other parts, mostly non moving ones, like intercoolers, piping kits, manifolds (to some extent). you can go knockoffs, but research the companies beforehand.

for example:
im running a Garrett turbocharger
this is bolted to an XSpower/SSAC manifold
but my BOV is a real deal TurboXS RFL
but i plan to run an XSpower wastegate
and ive heard EXCELLENT things about XSpower intercoolers. so im going to run their 24x12x4 FMIC kit.

edelbrock kit FTW!! the only thing that sucks about the kit is the expandiblity (sp) lol

well ya, the actually turbo is a given, and i already have an HKS BOV sitting around screaming for use lol, and ive been advised 100% against anything from SS Auto Chrome...only real thing im cunfused about, is with peicing a kit together...what about fuel lines and all that....exactly what all needs to be upgradedwhen adding boost?

fuel lines dont change lol.

you need to start doing some research, heres a quick rundown of the parts you need.

manifold
turbo
wastegate (if your turbo is not internally gated)
blow off valve
intercooler
intercooler piping
downpipe
exhaust
injectors
some type of fuel management
oil lines/fittings
coolant lines/fittings

and about the SSAC/XSpower thing. their quality has been improving a lot. i have their manifold and its pretty damn sturdy. and ive heard great things about their intercoolers and wastegates. i just would not advise using a turbo from them...

dont buy a turbo and everything just because you have a BOV. you need to do alot of research. what are your goals, whats the motors condition, whats your price range?

um...i wasnt saying i was gonna buy a turbo just because i have a BOV lol...im looking into boost becuase i want a turbocharded motor...and yes, i am still noob in the ways of boost, but i have been doing a little here and there when reading up and learning whats what, just havnet gotten all the way yet lol.

goals for now are between 180 to around the 200hp mark, or a little over, my motor is still a baby, not even 60k on it yet, to be a little more specific its just under 56k, and price...as cheap in price as i can go on the non-mechanical parts without sacrificing quality.
