well, im not a turbo guy... but if you are cool with just sitting in your car for at least a minute or so after you run it hard... dont bother with the TT. some people want them just so they dont have to physically sit in there while its running and cooling down.

im sure some of the other turbo gurus can give some more insight tho.

is your car turbo? im going to go ahead and assume yours is. Im also assuming you know why you need the cool down time.

well if your turbo is ONLY oil cooled, then yes proper cool down time is critical. If your turbo is oil AND water cooled, and you have the water hooked up, then no, you dont need one, becuase the water is there for that.

Yes you can sit in your car for 1.5-2 minutes in your car leaving it idle, thats what the turbo timer does, thats fine. im opting to get the turbo timer, just to save me from sitting in my car with my eyes on my clock.

Im assuming you also know that with the turbo timer you know you can take your keys, lock your doors and s**t.

For awhile, i went without a turbo timer. Sitting in the car for 3-4 minutes waiting for the EGT's to drop got really old really fast, especially if you're with friends or in a hurry.

I decided to go with a turbo timer, because i didn't want to wait anymore, and they are relatively cheap. If you don't have any problems sitting there, then don't waste the money, and it is just more aftermarket s**t that can cause problems (believe me, i know)

It's more wiring that can f**k up, or if the turbo timer itself goes out can cause ignition problems.

I had tons of problems with my turbo timer at first, gauges were going out, doors locking and unlocking randomly, and part of the problem was caused by the turbo timer

So what would be agood brand to get then?I got a Greddy Profec B Spec 2 and its been pretty reliable. The only reason im debating to get one or not is because i like to leave my car in gear instead of usin the e-brake all the time. The last time i used my e-brake all the time my LR caliper seized up and ate my whole brake pad.

My problems weren't caused by my turbo timer and i've heard no complaints from others with the Blitz unit, my problem was with the install.

I was just saying that with more aftermarket stuff you increase the chance of something happening.

Thats right. The more wires you run and the more electronic s**t you have fighting with one another, the more likely something will go wrong.

Jesus christ.

I didn't install it, i had a shop do it. I'm not great with electronics (reason i'm going for mechanical engineering, not electrical), and i really didn't have much of a clue on how to hook it up. The shop did it, and there was just a problem with the wiring.

Before you all start saying how easy it is and s**t, turbo timers weren't designed with a ford mustang in mind, so the install was slightly different than normal. You would have to get around PATS, Ford's anti-theft protection, and the electronic chip in the key. There was also NO ONE with previous experience to ask, so it was kind of trial and error.
