I currently have an h22 with a p13 ucu, i am going turbo it. i keep reading about all these tuning programs like hondata, uberdata, crome, etc... so my question is do i really need to buy one of these programs if am going to go get it tuned by a professional? thanks,

uberdata is free. hondata is a nice chunk of money, dunno too much about crome, i think you pay a small fee for that prog.. not sure. but it depends if your going to get it installed by a professional too. if you put the turbo in yourself and run it for a while before you go get it tuned, you'll need to burn a modified basemap chip to run your new setup on LOW boost so you dont go blowing yourself up, but you can maybe find a friend who has a program who can burn a chip for you too. oh, and you better have a socketed ECU too.

after the turbo is installed it is going straight to the shop to get tuned on a trailer. i keep hearing that i need one of these programs if i am going to turbo, why do i need one if going to a professional, dont they have one that will work.

Regardless of the tuning professional, you need to make your decision as to what management you want to use.. Be it the DIY stuff (Crome, CromePro, Uberdata, TurboEdit, etc.) or Hondata, AEM EMS, etc.... You're going to definitely have to make that decision..

I, personally, run Uberdata on my Turbo B18C... It's tricky to get used to, tuning-wise, but with a good tuner, knowledgeable with whichever system you decide to go with, you'll have mo problems..

BTW, how's everything in the 214/972?

Yes, they do have one that will work, but you'll pay for it.. and large..

so my best bet would be to get uberdata or whatever and then take it to get tuned. what would i have to buy with uberdata? tuning is all new to me i am only mechanically inclined.

yeah you know about that 214/972......

Well, it all depends on what your tuner knows about. The local tuner to me, here in Winchester, VA, doesn't know anything other than Hondata or AEM EMS.. And I'm not dropping 1000-1500$ for that.. So I went with Uberdata, and a tuner not to far from me (see sig) is very good with Uber.. So I went with that..

If your tuner is good with Uber, Crome or the likes, then you don't really need to get it, but you will need your ecu socketed... This averaged 30-50$, depending on who does it..

Then you can trailor it to the tuner, let hem tune it, burn the chip, and then you're good to go.:thumbs up

Yeah, I know all about the 214/972. Grew up there, and spent 75% of my life, thusfar, there.. I miss it..
