Not sure if I've just not noticed it before or what, but when hitting full boost (10psi) I can here a distinct whistle coming from the turbo. I've heard that whistles are bad (compressor going bad), and also heard that it's common.

The turbo is brand new, only been through two oil changes with it, so i HOPE it's not the "whine of death" that I've read about.

Anyone else have any thoughts...

It really depends. Sometimes its just the sound of it spooling as its cutting through air, other times its because the turbo is overspinning due to a boost leak. (actually had this happen on the dyno friday)

It may be a boost leak actually, I think sometimes i'm not holding boost... is there an easy way to check this other than just flooring it everywhere? lol.

Hmm I may try that. I'm actually planning on going on a 4th gear highway boost run just to see if it holds up. I went on a little run a couple days ago and it held up fine at like 6-7psi, but it only whistles at full boost. It sounds pretty sweet to be honest, but I want to make sure it's not anything bad.

some one please correct me if i'm wrong but , i don't think you will be able to tell if you have a boost leak like that. you're turbo will just spool faster to achieve you're boost level. the gauge may flutter a bit, but that can be a few different things if i'm not wrong

I was just going to see if it held constant, which I've noticed that most of the time it isnt, but then again im not always perfect on the gas either.

I have a TiAL 38mm external wastegate, with a 10.2psi spring in there (and boosting at 10psi..)

sounds about right to me honestly. my 14.5psi spring on my turbosmart hit 14 and fluttered a bit. nothing to extreme though. roughly 13.7-14.0 the last time i saw all my data on S300. i don't have boost leaks and from what i have learned about these external wastegates, they will start to open well before peak boost is achieved. When are you putting those head studs in and that built head we saw a wile back?

Alright sounds pretty good. I took the car out for a nice cruise today and it pulls hard as hell. Tried to keep an eye on the boost gauge as best I could and it seemed pretty decent.

Putting the head, head studs, and a Comp. stage 2 clutch on in 2 weeks. Along with a set of hasport mounts.

I've got a Competition Clutch.. Stage 4... I love the feel, it's not at all a hard pedal push and it holds very well.

Might as well post this here...

What stiffness do you guys recommend? (lol)

It's mostly a street car but I DO plan on taking it to the track a few times this year.. I was thinking of getting the 75A urethane, but would like some suggestions before buying.

Also, may get them anodized purple
