turbo wont spool

ok so i had some knock off ebay tubular manifold and it had a huge crack in it so i swapped it out for a name brand manifold and i just went and put it on and now my turbo wont spool. my wideband still reads 11.1 when i get to the turbo spool point so i figured i didnt have any leaks in my manifold. only reason i kinda guessed the manifold is because between my turbo and the manifold i used this type of gasket.
i didnt know if this was the right type of gasket to be used but i figured it would. second thing im thinking is could i have a boost leak in my intercooler piping or could my turbo be messed up? i hear it start to spool like the turbo whistle then it just dosent go over 0psi. i have a d16y8 turbo. anyone have any ideas on where i should start looking? i would just go out and start checking to see what it could be now but its dark now so i figured id ask on here first and see what everyone else thought.. i really hope its not my turbo going bad but its not dumping out oil or anything.

The gasket looks right.

Check for intercooler piping leaks.

is it possible for my turbo to be bad? i wouldnt think it would be but why would cause your turbo to be bad? even if you have a seal on your turbo go bad itll still spool. what would be the possibilities for my turbo if my intercooler piping dosent come to be the problem

can you spin the turbo by hand? is the boost guage hooked up correctly? check for leaks on the pressure side of intercooler piping

edit....what kinda wastegate set up are you runnig? when i first built my motor my wastegate was stuck open so it wouldnt make any boost

ok update.... yes i can spin the turbo by hand, when i flick it it spins at least like 10 ten really fast. boost gauge is hooked up correctly. reads 20-22 vaccum at idle. i check for all my leaks on the pressure side and i still dont see anything. i can check harder during the day but i didnt notice anything stupid loose. i also looked at my wastegate and its sitting at the right position... 1 thing i do notice is when i drive it then come back into the garage and hop out i can smell exhaust gas in the air... idk if its from just the engine running or a leak but i dont visualy see anything

pull the wastegate off and see if you can compress it. after its compressed release it and see where it naturally sits. what kinda wastegate is it?

OR - take dump tube off wastegate (if you have one) and let car idle. hold your hand over the dump on it and see if you feel hot air

I would have to say that it sounds like your wastegate is stuck open and not letting you make boost. Do what "Got traction" suggested.
