Turn signal & Wiper issue

The automatic turn signal cancellation does not work. Also my slowest setting on my wipers switch does not work. I was thinking I could replace the clock spring and maybe fix both issues but I can live with slowest setting being bad. The turn signal cancellation though I read has to do with a canceling sleeve (not sure if it's called that) on the clock spring. Some advice on what I should do and a lil info on exactly how the automatic turn cancellation works would be great.

I created you your own thread. Please do so from now on instead of reviving very old threads.

Also add your vehicle info & edit your post with further details since this is now an independent thread.

Lesson learned, I hope.

Any update on at least what trim your car is? You should at least know that, although its best to make sure your engine belongs to that car. These are things you should already know.

Clock springs don't tend to go bad, the easiest way to test is to turn the wheel all the way to one side and test your multifunction switches to see what stops working and then to the other side. If nothing stops working its most likely not the clock spring.

it could be a pure coincidence that your having problems with both switches on either side. Try to move them around and see if that corrects the problem, if it does its most likely a bad connection inside the switch. You can take them apart, clean and fix them but they are also very easy to break. I have done it before and broke my original on my old car. Went to the salvage yard and picked up a replacement. Went through the same issue with the wipers a few years ago and successfully took the switch apart and found some corrosion and bad contacts. Cleaned it up and resoldered some tabs, reassembled and it still works like a gem today.

I blame my own habit of leaving the windows cracked open because I have the window visors. So moisture does get in the car causing long term problems. But its f**king hot in Florida and I hate getting in a 130 degree car.

Yeah i've had the same problem (with the wipers lowest setting not working) with my 2000 ex, but haven't found a solution.

Wipers and blinkers are on two different sides of the steering column, I'd suggest they are separate issues. Go to a junkyard and pick up both lever arms and replace them. Then see if it fixes the issue.
