two questions

I got this 97 civic ex last week. figured out it had a blown head gasket so fixed that. now that everythings put back together when i accelerate it kinda sputters and doesnt really go any faster lol. motor is d16y8. whats my problem? and when im driving i'll hear a random clicking somewhere by the left side of the steering wheel. sounds just like a turning signal, when it does it the cluster, radio, and lights all flash for a second?

any help would be much appreciated.

sounds like timing check it and make sure and run a compression test while ur at it

messed with the timing got it almost perfect still hear alittle rattle. getting a timing light tomorrow and it adjusted again
now the clicking any ideas there?

something grounding out perhaps?

do you smell anything? what do you mean flash like they all light up?

yes they'll all light up for a second then go back off. maybe a short somewhere?
also the car is still burning alot of oil. its got a fresh oil change, all new gaskets and seals, and new plugs and wires. what am i missing?

no idea on the lights flashing except maybe a wire is exposed somewhere, its only your cluster being lit up Im guessing not your dash and the car itself doesnt seem to do anything when it happens?

We fixed the leak but still burns alot of oil. The car doesn't act any different when that starts ticking besides all the electrical stuff flashes

do you have an aftermarket alarm? and timing on a y8 is either in time, or its not, not like ls/v. set your timing, and go from there.
