type r basemap or chip?

ok so i have an ek hatch. it has a type r b18c5. the previous owner had it runing on gsr basemap. what would be better putting a type r basemap or chipping the computer, whats the difference?

help please.

oh yeah also when im idle or just finish running the car for a while it smells like gas alot. would this be fuel air ratio? or what?

if the car is basemaped, its already chipped.
Unless its just the p72 hes running. Find a tuner and plug n play.
