I really don't think that the changing of the shift boot will have a role in how the shift knob goes on...did you put it on correctly..?

yea i did and thats what i thought. i just changed the boot, not the knob but when i was done, my oem knob wouldnt get tight at all. i bought an aftermarket one, that kinda gets tight but i can pull it right off, i dont see how that is

the boot should sit lower than the threads on the shift arm, so the knob should have no problem threading down all the way.

maybe get a locknut to tighten the knob onto

*EDIT*
if youre looking for a new shift knob that will go with the CTR boot i highly recommend these ebay link. they are teflon coated, dont get hot in the summer or freezing in the winter. its what im using with my ctr boot too

i put a zip tie under my boot to keep it up with the S2 shift knob. makes it look nicer
