Alright i know this is stupid of me but anyway, i decided to paint my valve cover with engine enamel, it came out good and all, but when i was putting it back in, i was tightening it, and well i did a bit too much tightening. The screw cracked inside and it was pretty deep. I was trying to remove the leftover bolt pieces and it did not go as planned, long story short, they are stuck in there and not coming out. So i thought of a bunch of things as alternative fixes but i need opinions and an actual fix that doesnt have anything to do with those s***ty bolts. So i thought option 1, what if the valve cover was just weldes on, cause i really dont want it to be leaking oil. Option 2, is there any way i can use a clamp to hold down the spot. Is there anything they sell to just hold the cover down? Well thats all the ideas i had, by the way, 2 out of the 5 bolts are broken. Thankd for the help guys.

Nope. Get the broken bolts out of there and buy new ones. If there is still some bolt left sticking out, take a vice grip and clamp it on the bolt as hard as you can and try and twist it out that way. If they're stuck in there, you'll need a bolt extractor of some sort such as an easy out. Considering how small these bolts are and the fact that the head is aluminum, you most likely destroyed the threads and will have to repair them. This is why you shouldn't tighten things if you don't know what you're doing.

When doing things that involve your engine, even if you think it's something simple like making it look cool, you should still read the manual to get proper torque specs. I'd take it as a lesson going forward, get the bolt out or have a shop do it. Honda made those bolts to work with that head and that valve cover, to be torqued to a certain spec. If you snapped it, it's not because they're shitty.

Good luck OP, hope you can get your valve cover fixed.

No need for 2 threads on the same problem. Please add to the original one if you are continuing. This one is closed.
