vehicle speed sensor

ok so my speedo has has been cutting on and off for about three days and i what to know if the is a way i can check the speed senor to see if its that or the cluster.

What year civic do you have?
Is the Check Engine Light on? most of the time if it is the VSS the check engine will come on

its a 95 dx and there is no cel. do u think it would be the cluster.
