my drivers seat has a couple of really bad tears, anyway, the guy said he can recover it in vinyl for $250 ... he expalined the main differences is about half the cost and it wont dry out and crack like my leather did.

Is this a good idea, or will i regret going vinyl?

Heavy automotive vinyl like the stuff that used to come on BMWs and Mercedes Benzes is nice soft and supple stuff...not quite leather but good durable stuff. But I doubt he's using that grade. He's probably using stuff from ClothWorld for 3.99 a sq yd.

You could probably get a good quality tweed or something too.

nah all he does is automotive seats, so i think he uses good s**t, there were some nice cars in the parking lot

and no racing seats for me ... people laugh enough when they look inside and see an auto tranny, they dont need to laugh some more whne they see racing seats to hold me in while my s**t runs 17s

considering you're not keeping the car long go with the vinyl. If you were keeping it I'd say check the quality of the vinyl (you don't want anything like on a school bus). If you went with leather just take care of it and it'll last. Cleaning and conditioning with Lexol goes a long way. They also have products for vinyl too.

That's what I was saying about Mercedes Benz vinyl. It's easily 3X thicker than that crap in most cars and has a different feel.

Just check out an early to mid eighties 300SD if you find one. I bet it has 300,000 miles and not a tear in the vinyl.

its a passenger seat which is why its almost mint .... it looks like we can just swap the entire seat from one to the other and just put the rails, and power s**t from the drivers onto this one, so everything is on the right side for a drivers seat.

I got 30 days to return it so ill prob mess with it tommorow afternoon and see what i can get done if it isnt raining.
