When swapping to a Vtec head, you have to be careful with the IACV/intake manifold. All y7's use a 3 wire IACV, where AUTO y8's use the same 3 wire, but the 5spd y8's use a 2 wire. When swapping ECU's, you'll have to figure out which IACV configuration you'll need. You'll want a 96-98 EX (I forget the ECU code for it...sorry) ECU. If you're auto, you'll want an auto ECU. IF you're 5spd, obciously you'll want a 5spd ECU.

yea i have a 5 spd. i got a 96 ex head i sent off to get port and polished. i also got the same ecu out of the car. its not here with me but i believe that it is an p28 ecu i'm not sure i cant remember off the top of my head. you wouldn't know the wiring for the iacv would you? i'm sure if i do a little more research i'll be able to find it just figured that i would ask you since we're on that topic. i've also got the fuel rail and injectors, intake manifold, throttle body, and i picked up spark plugs for a 96 ex. plus all the gaskets, cooper spray, oil, filter, and coolant i believe thats all i'll need.

If you pulled EVERYTHING off a 96 EX, then you're ok. A P28 is out of a 92-95 Civic Ex/Si. It's the D16z6 ECU. You can use that, since youre 5spd you already have a 2 wire IACV (which the P28 looks for). THe swap should be just plug and play. Get a OBD conversion harness, drop the head on, bolt it all up properly, and go. If you're throwing a code for your secondary o2 sensor, when you use the P28 ECU, it wont matter because its OBD1. They dont look for secondary o2 sensors.
