wanting to turbo my b16a- questions

ok iv gotta b16a in my eg, i bought it like that..and its set up for NA... or atleast thats wut the guy told me..and i gotta mod list i will post aswell.. im wundering whut i need to replace in order for my b16a to handle turbo. i dont want anything crazy right now just a simple turbo in it so i can learn and not blow nuthin. iv searched some ppls turbo b16 and it looks sweet. and this is a daily driver aswell. when i get all the prep done then i guess ill buy parts for the turbo. soo really all i wanna do is put a turbo in my b16a doesnt matter wut psi right now. i just need it to be a reliable daily driver.

theres a guy down here whos got turbo in his eg, cost him around 7gs i heard but it puts out about 300whp... on a ls engine i think... its pretty crazy. his gf drove behind me and just went beside me and all i could hear was a loud rumble then a pshhhhh.... lol was awesome.

anyways heres my engine list :
B16A
JE 12:1 comp pistion
Type R cams
Type R valves
Crower Titan valve springs and retainers
port and polish
blue print and balanced
UR crank pully
Ngk blue spark plug wires
custom cold air intake
stright pipe
Type R B pipe
Center force clutch
Spoon fly wheel
rear disc brakes conversion with drilled rotors
OBD1 ECU

any comments would be nice. sorry if its long..and i dont think i reposted this? iv asked many forums but some just gets ignored. thanx a lot!

Looks like your b16's got a pretty nice NA list going.. iono why you want to change it. . .more work than its worth at this point with what has been done to the engine, but here is what you would need to swap out

you could either get custom pistons down the the low 9's for C/R or stock b16 pistons and run 8psi safely all day long. ..

get GSR cams (best cams for boost)

wont need a CAI intake anymore

get a full 3" catback exhaust (thermal R&D makes a nice one)

and if your not tryin to go all out, get either the slap on Greddy turbo kit or the Edelbrock Turbo kit and leave it all at stock settings and you'll be fine

Type R cams Just get a GSR intake cam, exhaust cams are both the same
Type R valves good

blue print and balanced id ask for proof
UR crank pully -- ditch now before you break something mainly oil pump
Ngk blue spark plug wires good
custom cold air intake you would have to lose or modify
stright pipe - depends what size for now, 2.5 with small boost is ok, no need to go 3 inch with a weak kit
Type R B pipe - give to me, haha also look above
Center force clutch - what stage
Spoon fly wheel - too light for boost, 12.5lb is a good street flywheel with boost
rear disc brakes conversion with drilled rotors - fine
OBD1 ECU - fine

all in all I dont see a point, you have a 12.1 b16 with some head work, get some bigger cams and FUEL yo uhave no fuel and some tunning you will be able to hang with that 300whp turbo car
your powerband is diff dont see 300peak hp and think oh noes hes so fast

you have a decent set upto start with, id work on that
get a good header, bigger cams I rec Rocket Motorsports m22s, buddy club 3s, jun 3s etc to work with your comp
some 310s, 190lph pump

why skimp on the fuel, i would jsut go ahead and get 550s and a 255, theres always room for upgrade..he'd be too limited with the 310s and 190...

The GSR exhaust cam and type r exhaust cam are not the same. The CTR and ITR exhaust cam are the same. He can still make power on the ITR setup and it might not be worth switching them out. If you come up on some GSR cams, do it and sell your ITRs ;)

oh opps, i always get them confused
i have brand new gsr cams

not skimmping on fuel, I said if you stayed NA..
225s and 550s are for boost sucka, overkill for na...

hmm so u think i should just stay NA? i wanna make 300 hp.. lol but that isnt really gunna happen, but yeah i do wanna keep up/beat 300 hp civic. that be sweeet..

if i were to stay NA wut should i get/upgrade? or is there any sites i can go and check out to read on this, im a noob ta this stuff but wanna learn about it.

how much hp do u guys think iv got? i can beat my friends 2001 prelude and hes got around 220hp.. BUT his cars wayy heavier.. lol

300 whp turbo is diff then 300whp na, diff power bands more traction etc etc etc
a 200whp EG hatch or ek will give a lot of hurting to some faster cars
the lude is a diff car, dont see peak HP and think oh its got more power so its faster my stock gsr would own my friends h22a lude
top of 5th it would get me though but thats ok

i mean your car is already set up for na, if you want boost sell that motor and buy a c1 and build it

in a ways but turbo turns to be expensive as well, more then you think plus more of a hassle if you ask me
ive been turbo and now im na
its up to you really, i do miss the boost but i do enjoy the na

i feel na can be a slower process you slap on a turbo and right away you need a lot of extras

what parts should i get to upgrade to make around 190-200 hp? sounds like a lot but i kno i can do it. just needa save a bit ahaha. i also need headers/exhaust.. and iv heard good about jun.. soo maybe ill get some of those aswell.

gotta another question, near end of summer i went to nanaimo.. a long drive about 1hr 1/2 to get to from victoria..and well there was races up there.. and i raced a couple times but didnt check my oil..and when i was going back home i was on 4th and the engine light went on.. i was racing against my friend. and well he has a sohc vtec..and he beat me.... and soo i went home and the nxt morning i look at my oil and there was none!.... im wundering whut did i wear out? i wanna change it to gain my losses.. also when im in second-third my car sorta vibrates a TINY bit.. or jerkes.. but not hard.. barely feel it..and i can hear something in the engine clicking, sounds something like something hitting a tin can.. something small but always rattling.. its weird. any ideas on that?

yeah im just thinkin about the fast hp gains on the turbo, and yeah na seems a lot slower process. im not sure wich rout ta go.. maybe ill save up for another motor and turbo it.. wich motor would be best to boost? iv gotta clip of a stock gsr with turbo in it and its got 300hp. and yeah i want a reliable everyday driving car.. soo yeah na would be good but my friends gotta turbo and he drives it everday but it cost him 7gs for the turbo + install at garage five. expsive...

honestly you can make good power with what you got, depends how good the head work is
id get a smsp anr dtr jun or hytech header, dont cheap out on the header

i would get some bigger cams and then fuel plus hondata
read the first page i gave you na mods

you can see 190-200 you have great comp now get some cams that can make power off them and you need the fuel
then tuneeee

dont skimp on the header bro...

your b16 has more than enough potential for what you want imo
