1500 for a civic that runs and drives good is fine. Not necessarily a steal but not getting ripped off either. I can't comment on the canister leak. I would look into the speedometer sensor (VSS). That was the problem with the odometer and the speedometer on my
Civic.

All in all it seems like a fair pick up. Just make sure that rust is only surface rust, and sandblast it off lol

welll i took the gauge cluster off and made sure everything was tight and while i was touching the green board type thing on the back it set the speedo back to 0( it was stuck at 20) so that most likely means its the gauge huh?

Don't sound like a bad buy. I'm also from Michigan that's funny. I think we have the same color too but mine is a 99.

The gauge cluster problem is either the cluster itself or your VSS, either way not a big deal to replace. The catalytic converter isn't a big deal either, just get one from a junkyard or get an aftermarket one. Do you have a check engine light on? Any guess on the mileage of the car?

well what are good ways to gather that info? i looked in the gear case and it looks really clean, and the car runs great! no sounds, it has a very small oil leak but its not the pan, id say probly 150k-160k for miles TOPS!
