Wastegate adapter (?) Question

Ok so i guess my question is.. is this hole supposed to be attached to somewhere by that flange or is it supposed to be capped off or what? I just find it wierd that from the manifold to the wastegate there is an open hole that just releases...pressure?

Also, i got the o2 sensor bong welded to my downpipe to drop the sensor in, and when i put my downpipe back on, the CEL light comes on, but it didnt before. Is this because now the hole on the end of the turbo is capped, but there is no sensor in yet? The sensor wasnt in before, and the hole was open, and the CEL light was off. Keep in mine this is not for the above picture, this is a hole on the side of the turbo where the downpipe adapter plate would cover.

thats the hole that the expelled gasses from your wastegate come from. make a custom pipe going from that hole to your exhaust system

ahh....turbo noob....are you done with this yet...? Yea you need a wastegate flagne to create a dumptube that routes back to the exhaust or to the open atmosphere.

to my exhaust system? i've never seen that done before. would it hurt just to leave it open then, or just to make a little pipe shooting down a few inches? and how is a pipe supposed to go there when the manifold is like inches under it? make the tightest curve to the left?

just get a pipe that gets it away from your vents so your not breathing fumes all day

that or switch the whole elbow with the wastegate to the other direction....I suppose you could try to flip the wstegate up side down to....Either way, you need a dumptube, preferebley one that goes underneath the car.

u need a waste gate dump tube....whether you choose to route it into the downpipe or route it somewhere else is your business.... we usually dont route our dump tube into the dowon pipe

no it isnt, you should try it- it will take a couple minutes. It really does look like a tight fit to squeeze a dumptube in there, especialy with a flange....just move the pieces around to see if you can find a better position.

ok unless i rotate the whole thing to the other side, nothing will fit below it so i guess im gonna have to rotate it, and but the parts to make a dumptube. but it's no necessary right...for now?

it isnt necessary to have one. but trust me youll have a new love for a dump tube once youve been riding around in your civic without one for like a week.

This is something along the lines of what you will want:

Buy another outlet flang for the WG (should be $30-$40), then take the car to a reputable welding shop and have them route a dumptube down to the ground. Make sure it clears your IC piping, vents, hoses, lines, and chassis itself (unless you dig burn marks).

Rerouting it will cost more and be more trouble. Plus an externally dumped WG = teh secks. ;)

i think im just going to leave it how it is and let it just dump out into the bay lol....$30 - $40 is out of my range right now considering it's not really NECESSARY at this point. I'll get it done eventually but for now i think ill just pick up my boost guage, clutch, etc.
