is there a way that i can make an internally wastegated turbo into an externally wastegated turbo?

sorry for the newbie question

yes, im thinking you can just weld the flapper shut, take off the wastegate acuator, then plug the hold on the housing.

I have an internally gated turbo sitting here in my home right now, looking at it would be kinda hard to do, but the possibility exists. First off you would have to know how to weld CAST, or pay someone a fair amount to do this for you. This would seal off the whole internal gated part. Then you would have to create a manifold with an external gate on it, which isnt really all that difficult and plub it in. Thats what I can see from looking at this thing.

you wouldnt need to CREATE the manifold...

no you could purchase it, however I ASSumed since he was trying to modify a internally gated turbo that this was a custom kit and he was looking to create a manifold. Sorry for the assumption. Buy one then.

what would be better internal or external wastegate???
does your boostcontoller has anything to do wiht internal or external wastegate???

id have to say that external is better for 12+ psi. but you also have to look for a good placement of the wastegate. (bad=drag good=full race
