Ok, so I've been doing planing on a swap I'm going to be doing later this year. I have one last hertal to jump as far as what parts I need.

What size wastegate. I know what spring, but I've seen everything from a 10mm to a 60mm. I know if I get one too big, ill have more lag, too small and I won't hit the level of bost I am shooting for.

Is there a formula or rule of thumb in chooseing a size of wastegate?

Shooting for something between (and here comes the s**t talking) 25 to 30 psi. I have a large goal I'm shooting for, and I'm ganna hit it come hell or high water, lol.

wastegate choice depends highly on your turbo and manifold choice. the standard street wastegate is the tial 38mm. for very high boost, a 44mm will probably be fine. for a huge project like your planning, consult with your tuner on where to go as far as manifold and turbo and wg selection.

well, yes and no, im looking for a b20b, and just rebuilding the ever living bijebus out of it. Im lookin at putting down about 350 whp, at a minimum, id love to hit 400 whp, but that might be too much. And Im going to be the tuner, i do my own work, so if something blows up, i know who to yell at, and i like to know what is going on at all times with my car. I dont belive in paying some guy (speacially where im at, where the only shop allows 16 yr/olds work on cars) work on my car at $85/hr. If me and my buddies can do a SR20 swap and a build up on an all motor charger, and restore a 70 ford galaxy, i think i can do this. A project the size of what im doing requres quite a bit of planning, and i wanna make sure all things go smoothly, this is really the last thing left to figure out. I was assuing between 40mm and 50mmm was ganna be the sweet spot though.

30 psi! Good luck! Start putting in those extra hours at work, start saving... cause it won't come easy. Even if you did get to 30 psi it would be a major pain in the ass to drive the car on the street.

Certain counties have inspections here. My county has the ecu test, and wake county, where our capital is, has the pipe test, but I'm fixing to get my car registered in sampson which doesn't have an inspection if I can't get excimpt.

Yes this is ganna be a big project, no its not ganna get nearly the gas mileage I'm getting now. My thing is I wanna take this car out at night, and spank the wheels of the punks who live around here who mommy and daddy bought everything for them. I bust my ass for a pos car, and mommy and daddy buy those assholes a mustange cause they got bored with their z3.

welllll... i know someone running 1.85 bar which translates to 26.3 psi or something and hes running a 44mm wastegate. i WOULD NOT go below that size. btw... he's at that level and putting down "Dynoed at 401.98whp and about 360pounds of torque." with a beta2 motor (thats my motor hah). only change in the engine is 1.8L rods and pistons which lower the compression to 8:1. so i think you can hit your goal man!

I know a guy that built a CRVtec that was 393.3WHP 282.5FT/LB running 11.7PSI with stock sleves

Specs if I remember right...
- CRV block
- CP forged pistons
- Aftermarket rods (I think)
- 890cc injectors
- AVC-R
-Eagle rods
-GSR head, ported, ITR valve train, GSR cams

Thanks elantra tuner, that accually made me feel good today, lol. 1.83 bars is 26.54 psi, I have seen 1.6 springs which I'm willing to settle on if I can't find 1.8 or 1.9. Ill probly shoot for a 50mm to be safe. I'm ganna use a b16 head, and ls tranny. I avoid burnouts. I think they are lame unless your warming your tires. Ntm, ill get a higher top speed.
