Is their a water proof cold air intake?? like the cut outs in the 99 ex bumpers im going to cut the left one out and run my cai down to the cut out ( to get colder and better air flow. ) would it be ok to run just a regular cai down to the cut out or would the rain get sucked up in it?

But then you might as well get a SRI, I can't imagine anything waterproof would have as good air flow as if it wasn't over the filter..

There's the bypass thing you can put in the middle of the tube.

You have to submerge the end of the intake in a pretty significant amount of water for a decent amount of time to hydrolock. Avoid big puddles and you should be fine.

do the aem with the bypass valve putting something over your filter is going to kill the purpose of it

I agree, the thing to get is the bypass valve. I would think twice about cutting the whole in the bumper though, it really won't make any noticeable difference at all.

^ this i missed that part the first time i read the thread
do not do that it will not make any difference in performance you will just have a 1 hole in your bumper
if this is a d series your putting it om I/H/E is only good for very small hp numbers so cutting a hole in the bumper isnt going to help any

Cold air intakes don't really do anything. Air doesn't like to move down long pipes or make turns. The best intakes from a pressure drop/flow stand point are the so called "whale penis" SRI

Who is going to be the first to argue that.

I will never argue anything that ends with "whale penis" in quotes.

i would get a small cai because the cold air to your engine is faster and less likely to get water in it if you think tht the heat will intercept with it then get a heat sheild. k&n is good
