Weird Idle issue

I was doing the big 3 in my car today, (upgrading my factory grounds).

I finished up everything and me and my friend decided to test everything out and head to wawa to get some stuff before heading back to my house.

The car started up fine and idled fine, and we set off to wawa.

The problem showed up when we hit a set of lights.

I hit the brakes and while I was about to stop, my idle DROPPED and the needle on the tachometer was on 0, but my car didnt die.

It felt as if my car idling at like 50 rpm because my car was shaking and the motor was making a very unhealthy noise, but it wouldn't die.

I gave it gas and the motor acted like everything was fine, it accelerated normally and I made it to the wawa.

But again the moment I stopped in a parking space the tac needle dropped to 0 and the car started to shake and make horrible noises. i put it in neutral, gave it a little gas to get the needle off 0 and shut the engine off.

I turned the key to let the fuel pump prime and started the engine again and like the first time I started it, it idled normally and everything.

However when I gave it gas and let the revs drop back to normal it did the same thing and idled as if it was about to die.

I shut it off and let the fuel pump prime one more time and tried it again.
Third time was a charm because when I gave it gas again the idle didnt drop.

I revved the motor to 1, 2 and 3k and let the revs drop back down and it dropped back to around 600 and held it there.

Now It hasn't happen since then and I doubt it will happen again, but Im just confused because i dont know WHAT could have caused that to happen.

I drive a 1998 honda civic lx, around 134k on the odo, auto, no other issues, no CEL lights on

TL;DR

Upgraded factory grounds. car then acts like its gonna die but doesn't, then it stops acting like its gonna die and it hasn't happened again. So confused, need help.

When I upgraded the grounds, i disconnected the battery.

Could it have been the ECU relearning the set points to idle at?

It's never done that before when i've disconnected the battery for long periods of time so I dont think THAT could be it.

Anyone at all have any info?

are you getting any CEL(check engine light). are you getting any kinda of bog or lagging when you drive? check your o2 sensors and your cat converter! those would cause your car idle. or most likely you have a leak somewhere! that sucks the most if you do cause you'll have to find out which one it is! good luck

My car had a similar idle issue a few weeks ago. It started out fine and I was going to autozone to pick up some oil. Soon as I went to leave I noticed my idle was really low. Put it in reverse started to back up and hit the brakes and it just died. Started back up 50-100rpms, reved it up a bit and it went back to normal. Cleaned my IACV and it was fine. You should be able to find IACV related threads here easily. Try cleaning that out. When I cleaned mine it brought my idle right back to normal.
